College Provides Set off Warning to Supplies Containing ‘Expressions of Christian Religion’
10/18/2024 United Kingdom (Worldwide Christian Concern) — The College of Nottingham in England has issued a “set off warning” to college students learning varied medieval literature, partially due to Christian themes within the texts. The Every day Mail on Sunday found the warning via a Freedom of Data Act request.
The British college warned college students that the course “Chaucer and His Contemporaries” contained problems with “violence, psychological sickness, and expressions of Christian religion.”
Geoffrey Chaucer, most generally recognized for writing The Canterbury Tales, was a 14th-century English writer and poet whose affect on English literature is on par with William Shakespeare. Chaucer, a Christian, is referred to by some as “the daddy of English poetry” and is claimed to have influenced C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.
A warning label on Chaucer for Christian themes targets Christianity as an entire and calls into query the character of what’s thought of harmful by fashionable universities. Add to that the specter of miscoloring literature on the whole, and future literary research are more likely to develop into tenuous and pulled from the deep waters of contemplation through which they belong.
In keeping with Frank Furedi, a professor on the College of Kent, putting a set off warning on Chaucer is an odd phenomenon.
