“Behold! the Mountain of the Lord” by Michael Bruce

01.10 BeholdTheMountainOfTheLord

Behold! the mountain of the Lord
In latter days shall rise
On mountaintops above the hills
And draw the questioning eyes.

To this the joyful nations spherical,
All tribes and tongues, shall move;
“As much as the hill of God,” they’ll say,
“And to His home we’ll go.”

The beam that shines from Zion hill
Shall lighten each land;
The King who reigns in Salem’s towers
Shall all of the world command.

Among the many nations He shall decide;
His judgments fact shall information;
His scepter shall shield the simply
And quell the sinner’s delight.

No strife shall vex Messiah’s reign
Or mar the peaceable years;
To plowshares quickly they beat their swords,
To pruning hooks their spears.

Now not hosts encountering hosts
Their tens of millions slain deplore;
They cling the trumpets within the corridor
And research conflict no extra.

Come then, O home of Jacob, come
To worship at His shrine,
And, strolling within the mild of God,
With holy beauties shine.
