Christian persecution and non secular discrimination towards Christians, Hindus, and different minorities have reached alarming ranges in Bangladesh. Following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina authorities, Islamist teams have been attacking Christians and Hindus nearly day by day.
On Christmas Eve 2024, 17 homes belonging to the Christian neighborhood within the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh had been set on fireplace. The assault came about within the SP Backyard space of Lama Sarai, Bandarban district, whereas the residents had been attending Christmas prayers at a close-by church.
The incident left 19 households from the Tripura neighborhood devastated and unable to have fun Christmas. Christianity is a quickly rising religion in Chittagong, with many tribal folks—and even some Muslims—embracing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. In response to neighborhood members, the estimated loss from the arson exceeds 1.5 million Taka (roughly 15,000 USD).
The affected households defined that the land belongs to their neighborhood, however the assault has intensified a long-standing dispute following their conversion to Christianity.
One sufferer, Ganga Mani Tripura, revealed that they’d been threatened with eviction since November 17, 2024, and had been pressured to pay a big sum of cash to stay within the space. Regardless of submitting a proper grievance towards dozens of people on the Lama police station, no preventive motion was taken.
We ask our readers and fellow Christians to maintain these households in your prayers as they continue to be with out shelter, uncovered to the weather.
