“Lord, Thy Phrase Abideth” by H. W. Baker

Lord, Thy Phrase abideth and our footsteps guideth;
Who its fact believeth gentle and pleasure receiveth.
When our foes are close to us, then Thy Phrase doth cheer us,
Phrase of comfort, message of salvation.

When the storms are o’er us and darkish clouds earlier than us,
Then its gentle directeth and our manner protecteth.
Who can inform the pleasure, who recount the treasure
By Thy Phrase imparted to the simple-hearted?

Phrase of mercy, giving succor to the residing,
Phrase of life, supplying consolation to the dying!
O that we, discerning its most holy studying,
Lord, might love and worry Thee, evermore be close to Thee.
