“See Amid the Winter’s Snow” by Edward Caswall

See amid the winter’s snow,
Born for us on earth under,
See, the tender Lamb seems,
Promised from everlasting years.
Hail, thou ever blessèd morn!
Hail, redemption’s pleased daybreak!
Sing by means of all Jerusalem,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem.”
Lo, inside a manger lies
He who constructed the starry skies;
He who, throned in peak elegant,
Sits amid the cherubim!
Say, ye holy shepherds, say,
Inform your joyful information at the moment.
Why have you ever now left your sheep
On the lonely mountain steep?
“As we watched at lifeless of night time,
Lo, we noticed a wondrous mild;
Angels singing ‘Peace on earth’
Informed us of the Savior’s start.”
Sacred Toddler, all divine,
What a young love was Thine,
Thus to return from highest bliss
All the way down to such a world as this!
Educate, O educate us, Holy Youngster,
By Thy face so meek and delicate,
Educate us to resemble Thee
In Thy candy humility!
